Julie Boland has been elected as EY US chair and managing partner and appointed as Americas area managing partner, effective July 1, 2022.
Boland succeeds Kelly Grier, who served one four-year term as EY US and Americas head and opted not to seek re-election. Grier will retire from EY on June 30, 2022 after a 30-year career with the Big Four accounting and consulting firm.
In her new role, Boland will lead the EY US firm and Americas geographical region representing $21.2 billion in revenue and 81,000 people in member firms across 31 countries.
Boland brings 30 years of experience in professional services, financial services, and finance function leadership. She has been at EY since 2010 and most recently spent three-and-a-half years as vice chair and managing partner of the US Central region. Before that, Boland served as Cleveland office managing partner.
Prior to EY, Boland was CFO of Flight Options, the second-largest private aviation company in the US, and CFO of Oglebay Norton, a Cleveland-based mining company. She was also previously a VP at Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan. Boland began her career as a CPA at PwC US.
She holds an MBA from the University of Chicago and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Vermont.
