KPMG has appointed Kevin Voigt as managing partner of its Michigan offices in Detroit and Grand Rapids, effective October 1. He will remain based in Detroit.
In the role, Voigt will oversee 414 professionals and guide the overall strategic direction and growth of the accounting and consulting firm’s two Michigan locations.
Voigt replaces Betsy Meter, who has been Michigan managing partner since 2018. Meter, who is also KPMG’s US accounting change leader, will retire in December after a 38-year career at the Big Four firm.
Voigt is currently the national service line leader for the tax economic and valuation services (EVS) practice, overseeing client service delivery, new services and products, and technical valuations training.
“Kevin is a respected business adviser and seasoned valuation professional whose strong local connections make him ideal for the role,” said Tandra Jackson, KPMG vice chair, growth and strategy. “He leads by example and is committed to living out firm values and building a more diverse team where sharing ideas, perspectives, and candid feedback is encouraged.”
He joined KPMG in 1995 and became a partner in 2008. Specializing in business valuation, Voigt has supported large clients in the areas of acquisitions, divestitures, and tax planning. He also previously helped grow the regional EVS practice and Detroit tax function.
Voigt holds a BA in accounting from Michigan State University and is a CPA and accredited in valuation by the AICPA.

KPMG US earlier this summer unveiled its 12-person management team, headed by new CEO Paul Knopp.
