Global IT consultancy Atos has acquired Miner & Kasch, a Baltimore-based firm specializing in data science consulting.
Miner & Kasch was founded in 2015 and offers big data platform architecture and data science consulting to clients across industries, including healthcare, financial services, and energy. The firm has full-stack expertise in big data technology platforms such as Hadoop, Spark, and Cassandra, and supports clients across product development, advisory consultation, and professional training.
Atos’ acquisition of the firm will enhance its big data and AI consulting practice, Atos zData, which was formed out of the 2017 acquisition of US big data consulting and solutions firm zData. The move enhances the practice’s data engineering capabilities and data science-as-a-service offering, which will now boast more than 100 AI consultants.
Atos zData has more than 154 clients and has executed 1000+ use cases. Its technology partners include AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure. The practice’s data platform services help clients enhance their operations, with key capabilities such as predictive maintenance to reduce costs and video analytics to secure spaces.
“The acquisition of Miner & Kasch strengthens our digital portfolio to better serve our customers’ evolving needs,” said Jerome Sandrini, head of big data and security, Atos in North America. “Atos’ data science expertise with deep vertical know-how benefits the customer with added technical skills and appropriate digital resources to rapidly develop use cases and to deploy and support data science applications on any environment of their choice.”
Headquartered in France, Atos has more than 110,000 employees in 73 countries and annual revenue of €12 billion. The firm’s North America regional headquarters are in Irving, Texas, at a state-of-the art facility that was opened in 2017.
“Together, Miner & Kasch and Atos will bring next-level AI and data science proficiencies that fast track companies’ innovation strategies for their local and global ambitions. We continue to aid customers in the journey to becoming self-sufficient in their data practice, helping them create real-world solutions to efficiently execute business goals,” said founders Donald Miner and Niels Kasch.
Atos last year acquired Maven Wave, a Chicago-based consultancy specializing in Google Cloud integrations for large companies.
