Bill Marion, an experienced public sector IT leader, has joined the federal arm of consulting firm Accenture as managing director of growth and strategy in its defense and intelligence practice.
In his role at Accenture Federal Services (AFS), Marion will advise defense and intelligence clients on information technology innovation initiatives which counteract evolving threats.
Marion brings 27+ years of executive experience leading projects across digital modernization, business intelligence, and cyber operations and security.
He was previously the deputy chief information officer of the US Air Force, where he was responsible for managing the USAF’s IT portfolio, including investment strategy, networks, cloud computing, innovation, and information assurance.
Before that, he was the chief technology officer of Air Force Space Command, overseeing an $11.4 billion portfolio and leading a team of 1,200+ technology professionals, and CTO of Air Combat Command.
Prior to that, Marion was deputy of the Air Combat Command Communications Group and chief of the Warfighter Integration Branch at the Air Intelligence Agency, where he led technical integration for intelligence projects across 130+ units worldwide.
He holds an MS in computer and information sciences from St Mary’s University and a BA in mathematics from the University of the Incarnate Word.

AFS recently announced that it will open an Advanced Technology Center in St. Louis, Missouri later this year.
