Craig MacGibbon appoints Wavestone as managing director

IT consultancy Wavestone US has appointed senior IT executive Craig MacGibbon as a managing director focusing on transformation advisory services. He is based in Columbus, Georgia.

MacGibbon has more than 25 years of technology leadership experience, guiding teams across strategy, architecture, software development, offshoring, cybersecurity, lean, and ERP implementation, among other areas.

He joined the firm as a principal consultant when it acquired IT consultancy WGroup, a Philadelphia-based firm, in July 2019. The 100-person consultancy has since been rebranded to Wavestone US, forming the core of France-based Wavestone’s North American presence. Wavestone has 3,000 employees across offices in Europe, the US, Morocco, and Hong Kong.

Prior to WGroup, MacGibbon was chief of application development and support at Synovus, a bank with a substantial footprint in the Southern US. Before that, he was chief information officer of utility company UIL Holdings (now Avangrid) and CIO of enterprise solutions at Fifth Third Bank.

Prior to his career in the information technology sector, MacGibbon was a petty officer and aviation electronic technician in the US Navy. He holds a BS in accounting from the University of Maryland.

“Craig has exactly the experience and profile that are the hallmarks of our business. He has had a long career as an operator including as CIO. This depth of real-world experience is at the heart of the value we deliver to clients. Today’s trying times are exactly why our model of experience over theory is gaining momentum in the market,” says Jeff Vail, CEO of Wavestone US.

Wavestone US offers services in IT strategy, cost and run optimization, operations, cybersecurity, and IT talent solutions. The company serves clients in financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, energy and utilities, consumer and retail, media and entertainment, and transportation and travel. Wavestone US has offices in Philadelphia and New York, as well as offshore capabilities in India.
