Kirk Waldrop joins operations practice of Grant Thornton

Grant Thornton US has hired veteran supply chain consultant Kirk Waldrop as a managing director in its operations transformation practice.

Waldrop will be based in the firm’s Atlanta office and will focus on advising private equity clients on supply chain transformation.

Waldrop brings 25 years of supply chain experience, with much of that time focused on advising large multinational companies across numerous industries. He has extensive experience in strategic planning, process reengineering, supply chain operations and optimization, strategic sourcing, and program management.

“During this time of historic disruption and uncertainty, strong supply chain management strategy is essential,” said Jonathan Eaton, national supply chain practice leader at Grant Thornton. “Kirk boasts decades of supply chain experience in industries ranging from private equity and retail to manufacturing and public sector – making him a vital source of supply chain management knowledge.”

Waldrop previously spent eight-and-a-half years at Chainalytics – a provider of supply chain intelligence, analytics, and advisory services – where he was a VP and leader of the supply chain operations practice. In the role, he led operational strategy and implementation engagements.

Before that, Waldrop spent more than 12 years at Booz Allen Hamilton, where he was a senior associate and led the space and homeland security supply chain/logistics business, serving clients such as NASA and FEMA. In the role, he led a team of 30 logisticians on engagements across logistics policy, program implementation, and product support development.

Waldrop holds an MBA in supply chain management and an MS in logistics and transportation from the University of Maryland, as well as a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He is also a Six Sigma Green Belt and has a certification in transportation and logistics (CTL).

Grant Thornton last month promoted Dennis Morrone to leader of the not-for-profit and higher education practices. Morrone has been with the accounting and consulting firm for 18 years, and previously led audit services for the not-for-profit and higher education industries.
