Maine Pointe hires Kevin Krot as leader of aerospace and defense industry

Maine Pointe, a global operations and supply chain consulting firm, has hired Kevin Krot as leader of its aerospace and defense industry practice.

Krot brings more than 25 years of consulting and industry experience, with a focus on the aerospace and defense industry, including ground combat systems, tactical vehicles, aerospace structures, and engines. He also has experience across automotive, heavy equipment, agriculture, chemicals, and oil and gas.

Krot has advised corporate, private equity, and government clients on projects in strategy, growth, supply chain, operational improvement, and due diligence, among other areas, and has conducted more than 250 manufacturing site workshops and assessments.

He joins Maine Pointe’s Detroit office as an executive vice president.

“We are excited to welcome Kevin to the Maine Pointe family. His breadth of experience and industry knowledge is sure to play a major role in our growth in the industry, and in the continued success of our clients,” said Jeff Staub, who served as leader of the firm’s aerospace and defense practice prior to his appointment as CEO in December.

Krot previously spent 16 years in the Detroit office of Kearney, a management consulting firm, where he was a partner. He completed engagements with leading manufacturers spanning operational turnaround plans, growth strategy, sourcing initiatives, cost reduction, and M&A due diligence.

Before that, Krot spent five years at auto parts firm Lear Corporation, where he was an engineering supervisor responsible for program management, product development, design cost reduction, business development, and customer support. He was also previously an engineer at United Technologies (now Raytheon).

Krot has an MBA from the University of Michigan, master’s degrees in manufacturing engineering and mechanical engineering from Wayne State University, and bachelor’s degrees in biomedical engineering and mechanical engineering from Marquette University.

“The Aerospace & Defense industry has seen dramatic changes, challenges and opportunities just in the last few years,” Krot said. “Maine Pointe’s deep level of expertise in this area brings unparalleled value to its clients, especially as the industry’s largest players re-shape their strategic and operational processes as they plan for the industry’s changing future, new growth, and exciting opportunities.”

Maine Pointe earlier this year appointed Alfred Baumbusch as chief operating officer.
